Who we are

The Journalism Education Association of Northern California, a non-profit organization committed to serving scholastic journalism educators and their students. It covers the counties from the Oregon border through San Luis Obispo, Kern and Inyo counties.

Membership is available to all Northern California scholastic publication advisers in both public and private schools.

JEANC annually hosts NorCal Media Day, a day-long scholastic media conference that is $10 for students of JEANC members. Member advisers and chaperones attend for free.

JEANC recognizes outstanding students and programs each spring with its Annual Contest.

JEANC works closely with the national Journalism Education Association in sponsoring events such as the Journalist of the Year scholarship program.

JEANC offers members the opportunity to ask and answer questions via its Listserv.

JEANC alternates hosting the annual California Adviser Teach-in with the Southern California Journalism Education Association.

Board members are available by email to answer questions individual advisers may encounter during the year.
