JEANC will recognize Northern California’s best scholastic journalism in its Annual Contest that runs through April 1. All JEANC members may enter their students work that was published in print, online, as video or via social media.
Student work must have been published between April 2, 2023 and April 1, 2024 to be eligible for entry in this year’s contest. Yearbook entries have some exceptions; see those categories for a complete explanation. Each publication may submit up to two entries per category, as long as they are not from the same student. The first three entries are free; additional entries are $5 each.
The Annual Contest also includes three special categories: the Casey Nichols Service Above Self Award, The Nicholas Ferentinos Memorial Press Freedom Award and the Best of the West contest.
For more information, be sure to check out Contest FAQs and Contest Categories. Upload entries here.
Member advisers can share this link with their students about how to prep contest entries, including screencasts and web resources so they can help cull the best entries and prepare them for submission.
If you still have questions or feeling overwhelmed because this is your first time entering, contact the contest coordinator or any JEANC board member.
