2013 Fall state convention
Fall State Convention
October 11-12, 2013
Sacramento Convention Center
About the convention
Kick start your year by attending the JEA Northern California Fall State Convention in Sacramento. All student publication staffs will benefit from a broad menu of sessions. Media professionals, adviser speakers and student panels will cover both the basics — introductions to news, design, interviewing, and press law — and more advanced topics like increasing online traffic, pulling off big convergence projects, and beginning a career in journalism.
We’ve done a lot to make the convention affordable for you and your staff: packing a ton of sessions into a 2-day convention that only requires one overnight stay; maintaining the same low registration fee for the past two conventions; and stripping down the extras to focus on what you care about most — a dynamic keynote speaker, exciting sessions on lots of topics, fun on-site contests, and awards to recognize great work.
After convention activities conclude Friday evening, you and your staff can explore everything Sacramento has to offer. Walk through the cobblestone streets and along the wood porches of Old Sacramento, or check out the thriving local theatre scene. Join in on Downtown Sacramento’s “2nd Saturday” Art Walk, visiting local galleries and enjoying good food and live music. For the best of Old West history and the hippest of food, art and culture, CONVERGE with NorCal’s finest student journalists in Sacramento this Fall.
