It’s not too early to order JEANC’s custom-made, tri-color honor cords for your seniors to wear at commencement — and keep as a memento of their dedication to scholastic journalism.
Graduates wearing JEANC’s honor cords should have served more than one year on a student media staff, which can include enrollment in introductory classes; served in a leadership position on the student media staff – OR – have been honored with a first-, second- or third-place award in JEANC’s on-site or annual contests. Their media adviser must be a current member of JEANC.
Each twist-braided, gold, antique gold, and royal blue honor cord measures 68 inches, including the two, 4-inch tassels. Cords are $10 each, plus shipping. (Pro tip: Order an extra cord or two in case someone’s gets lost in the excitement of graduation.)
Member-advisers are encouraged to make all purchases at once, if possible, to reduce shipping costs.
“Fine print”: Only JEANC members may order Honor Cords. All orders must be addressed to the adviser-member, using the school address. Other orders are subject to cancellation. The order form allows for a maximum of 35 cords, so some advisers may need to use two or more forms for larger purchases. Cords will be mailed to advisers in the order they are received. Purchases can be made with major credit cards or by school check. Orders must be paid in full before shipment.
Honor Cord ordering is closed for the 2026 Commencement season.
